Further Upgrading of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor "Hydrogen Corridor": Chongqing-Guizhou-Guangxi Trunk Line Directly Connects to Friendship Pass, Creating a New Green Export Channel for Laptops
On February 4, a Chongqing Daily reporter learned from the Chongqing Port and Logistics Office that the Chongqing-Guizhou-Guangxi trunk line of the "Hydrogen Corridor" had recently completed a major branch-line extension. The hydrogen-powered cross-border road shuttle service convoy transporting laptops made in Chongqing departed from Chongqing, passed through Guizhou and Guangxi, reached the Friendship Pass Port, and was finally delivered on January 31 to a customer warehouse in Nghe An, Vietnam.
This marks a broader expansion and upgrading of the "Hydrogen Corridor", while significantly enhancing the service capacity, green efficiency, and industrial-chain synergy. It also represents the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor "Hydrogen Corridor" extending its reach across ASEAN with wider coverage and deeper connectivity, linking global markets.
An official from the Chongqing Port and Logistics Office explained that one of the core objectives of building the "Hydrogen Corridor" is to promote the green and low-carbon transformation of the logistics system. With the expansion of new routes, clean-energy vehicles, including hydrogen-powered transport, will be increasingly deployed in trunk-line transportation and regional distribution of laptop products, significantly reducing the carbon emission intensity across the entire chain from production and consolidation to cross-border transport. This not only optimizes the energy structure of the supply chain, but also provides strong support for the development of an intensive, low-carbon laptop supply-chain organization and consolidation and distribution hub.
Against the backdrop of the continued deepening of global green trade rules and the phased implementation of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), this initiative demonstrates significant strategic foresight. In particular, for laptop products exported to markets subject to carbon tariffs, such as Europe, low-carbon transportation can effectively reduce the full life-cycle carbon footprint, enhancing the green competitiveness and compliance of laptops "Made in Chongqing" in international markets.
At present, relying on the regular and high-frequency operation of cross-border road shuttle services to ASEAN, Central Asia, and South Asia, the clean-energy advantages of the "Hydrogen Corridor" are being combined with the flexible network advantages of cross-border road shuttle services spanning "3 directions, 12 routes, and 25 ports". Through the "Hydrogen Corridor" trunk line and new branch lines, cargoes are quickly transported to ports and can seamlessly connect with the cross-border freight network, opening direct access to Southeast Asian markets such as Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand, and further strengthening trade and economic links between Chongqing, western China, and ASEAN.
Data show that in 2025, Chongqing transported a total of 327,700 TEUs of cargos via the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, up 30% year on year; with a cargo value of RMB 58.312 billion, an increase of 25% year on year. Among these, cross-border road shuttle services accounted for 27,900 TEUs, up 90% year on year; with shipment value reaching approximately RMB 17.417 billion, an increase of 306% year on year.
