Chongqing News | Sichuan as Permanent Guest Province of Honor Highlights Twin-City Momentum Behind "One Family" Bond Between Sichuan and Chongqing

On May 22, the 7th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) will be held at Chongqing International Expo Center. This year's fair will invite Sichuan as the permanent guest province of honor, showcasing the twin-city momentum behind the "one family" bond between Sichuan and Chongqing.

The fair serves as a vivid embodiment of how Sichuan and Chongqing are jointly performing the "Twin-City Story" Initiative in Western China's new era, adhering to the "one family" development philosophy. Behind this lies years of close cooperation between the two regions, continuously elevating their development capabilities and achieving remarkable outcomes: in jointly building world-class industrial clusters, the two regions have collaboratively advanced the chain-based development of competitive industries such as automobiles, electronics, equipment manufacturing, and specialty consumer goods. For instance, mainstream models of Changan Automobile alone incorporate components supplied by 50 Sichuan-based enterprises, driving the growth of 683 cooperative partners and creating employment for 120,000 people across Sichuan and Chongqing.

In co-developing a national comprehensive three-dimensional transport hub, high-speed rail projects like the Chengdu-Chongqing Middle Line High-Speed Railway, Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway, and Xi'an-Chongqing High-Speed Railway are accelerating, while the Yangtze River Upper Reach's integrated rail-highway-waterway port system has taken shape. Currently, 26 transportation corridors - including railways, expressways, and waterways - connect Sichuan and Chongqing.

In collaboratively establishing a nationally influential sci-tech innovation center, the two regions have reorganized 26 national key laboratories, constructed 11 major national sci-tech infrastructures, implemented over 250 joint R&D projects, and nurtured more than 24,000 national high-tech enterprises.

In jointly creating an inland open gateway, the Chengdu-Chongqing airport cluster ranks among China's top in passenger throughput. The China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu-Chongqing) now reaches 116 node cities across Eurasia, while the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor connects 127 countries and regions globally.
