Jacky Chung elaborated that the HKTDC and the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce previously signed a strategic cooperation memorandum, leading to a series of economic and trade collaborations spanning finance, technology, cultural innovation, and participation in the Belt and Road Initiative. In 2023, the establishment of a high-level meeting mechanism between Chongqing and Hong Kong further deepened their cooperation. By 2024, the total trade volume between the two regions exceeded RMB57.5 billion, ranking Chongqing as Hong Kong's largest trading partner among the 12 western provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities and cities.

Regarding industrial development, Chung emphasized the significant untapped potential between Chongqing and Hong Kong. "Chongqing is developing its '33618' modern manufacturing cluster system, while the nation is promoting the deep integration of industrial chains, innovation chains, talent chains, and capital chains. As an international innovation hub and a gathering place for high-end talent, Hong Kong can strengthen collaboration with Chongqing."

Chung noted that Hong Kong serves as the Guest City of Honor at this year's WCIFIT, prompting over 20 Hong Kong enterprises to explore opportunities on-site. He expressed hope that the fair would facilitate deeper cooperation between Hong Kong and Chongqing in services, capital, talent, and technology sectors.
