The 7th WCIFIT | Full Spectrum of "Chongqing-Made" Aluminum New Materials Draws Attention

"This is the aluminum forging supplied for China's domestically-produced C919 aircraft? The workmanship is indeed exquisite!" On May 24, at the main venue of the 7th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT), the exhibition area of Aluminum Corporation of China (Chinalco) showcased a full range of aluminum new materials, attracting numerous visitors to stop and take a closer look.

As a key subsidiary of Chinalco, Chinalco Southwest Aluminum brought a series of flagship products for the C919 - such as wheel hubs, window frames, seats, and aluminum alloy forged rings - garnering wide attention.

"In addition to supplying the aerospace sector, the company has also made a name for itself in the marine market in recent years," said a Chinalco Southwest Aluminum representative. To meet the current demand for lightweight materials in shipbuilding, Chinalco Southwest Aluminum has continued to develop multi-alloy and multi-specification marine aluminum alloys. To date, it has achieved mass production and installation of over 30 types of marine aluminum materials. Their strength, corrosion resistance, and other performance indicators have reached internationally advanced levels, realizing the domestic, independent, and controllable production of advanced marine aluminum materials.

At this year's WCIFIT, Chinalco Southwest Aluminum also showcased a full spectrum of aluminum materials for applications including low-altitude flight, automobiles, and electronic products.

"All the major exhibits displayed by Chinalco at the event were provided by Chinalco Southwest Aluminum," said a Chinalco representative. For example, the "Chinalco Southwest Aluminum-made" lightweight aluminum materials for automobiles on display can replace traditional steel, significantly reducing vehicle weight while lowering energy consumption. Chinalco Advanced Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Chinalco Southwest Aluminum's parent company, has taken the lead in China in developing fundamental theories, industrial technologies, and key equipment for automotive aluminum. It has established the R&D and supply capabilities for five major categories and over a hundred specifications of automotive aluminum, forming a complete series of domestically produced aluminum alloy sheets for vehicles.

According to Chinalco Southwest Aluminum, the company will leverage the WCIFIT platform to showcase the "hardcore strength" of "Chongqing-made" aluminum materials to domestic and international new energy vehicle manufacturers, promote joint technological cooperation, and drive the collaborative development of the lightweight aluminum product supply chain.
