The 5th WCIFIT

Enterprises from Chongqing and Zhejiang "Join Hands" to Build Two Ports

On May 18, the 5th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (hereinafter referred to as the "WCIFIT") kicked off. Reporters from Upstream News (www.cqcb.com) learned that Chongqing Shipping Construction and Development (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Chongqing Expressway Group, signed strategic cooperation agreements respectively with Ningbo Zhoushan Port Zhoushan Port Co., Ltd (a subsidiary of Zhejiang Seaport Group) and Taicang Wanfang International Terminal Co., Ltd.

Under the agreements, both parties will leverage their respective strengths to conduct comprehensive collaboration across multiple areas including information sharing, business reciprocity, and management synergy. This partnership aims to integrate, extend, and expand their industrial chains. Key initiatives include transforming Wanzhou Xintian Port into a Southwestern China Bulk Commodity Distribution (Reserve) Center for Xintian, Chongqing; developing Banan Foeryan Port into the largest digital timber hub along the upper Yangtze River; and enhancing logistics corridors for the Belt and Road Initiative and Yangtze River Economic Belt, thereby strengthening service capabilities for these national strategies.

A Chongqing Expressway Group representative stated that these agreements demonstrate concrete efforts to implement China's national strategies: the Belt and Road Initiative, Yangtze River Economic Belt development, and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. It also advances the construction of an upper Yangtze shipping center and a multimodal (water-highway-rail) transport hub.
