In his keynote address, YB Datuk Chan Foong Hin, Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities of Malaysia, stated that the global oils and fats market is facing unprecedented volatility, with climate change and geopolitical risks compounding supply chain challenges. Against this backdrop, Malaysia and China must deepen strategic cooperation on key agricultural resources like palm oil to safeguard regional grain and oil supply security. Chongqing and Sichuan are not only China's pivotal food manufacturing and hotpot condiment hubs but also crucial markets for sustainable, high-value-added oil applications. As a global palm oil leader, Malaysia provides stable, green and functional oil solutions. Through the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) certification system, robust R&D capabilities, and integrated industrial chains, Malaysia seeks to collaborate with enterprises in Western China on raw material partnerships, joint development initiatives, and green transformation - collectively contributing to the dual-carbon goals.
Datuk Dr. Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir, Director General of Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), presented Malaysia's 2024 palm oil industry developments and China market outlook. He noted that palm oil holds immense potential across food, daily chemicals, and energy sectors and expressed hope to engage in more in-depth exchanges with Sichuan-Chongqing enterprises.

In recent years, Chongqing has accelerated development of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) and inland opening hubs, prioritizing green food and biochemical industries. Liu Yizhen, member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of the New Land-Sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd., stated that as a cross-regional comprehensive operation platform of the Corridor jointly built by "13+2" provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), the company has continuously promoted cooperation under the "corridor + hub + industry" model, actively facilitating the synergistic linkage between China - Malaysia twin parks and the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, as well as the integrated development of China-Malaysia industrial and supply chains. The palm oil industry is a representative example. Growing volumes of palm oil products now distribute through Chongqing's New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Dry Port, reaching central and western China. Moving forward, the company will continue leveraging the Corridor's cross-regional integrated operation platform to facilitate market access for Malaysian palm oil products in China, thereby enhancing China-Malaysia economic cooperation and advancing regional economic integration.
A roundtable on "Global Trends of Sustainable Palm Oil and China's Pathway" facilitated in-depth exchanges on trade trends, sustainability certification, technological innovation, and industrial policies.
