Minsk Region of Belarus   The Republic of Belarus, abbreviated as Belarus, has its capital in Minsk and is located in the western part of the East European Plain. With a land area of 207,600 square kilometers and a population of approximately 9.5 million, Belarus serves as a vital transportation hub within the Eurasian Economic Community and along the Belt and Road Initiative. Minsk Region is situated in the central part of Belarus and is one of the country's six administrative regions. While it does not share borders with any foreign countries, it is adjacent to all five other regions of Belarus. Minsk Region ranks among the most economically developed areas in Belarus, with a population of 1,460,200. Industry in Minsk Region The industrial sector in Minsk Region is diversified, encompassing the following industries: chemical industry, light industry, machinery manufacturing (including heavy-duty vehicles and machine tools), building materials (such as concrete), electronics, and furniture production. Major industrial production is concentrated in the cities of Soligorsk, Borisov, Zhodino, Slutsk, and Molodechno. Agriculture in Minsk Region Minsk Region is the largest agricultural region in Belarus. Across most of its territory, the region excels in meat and dairy farming, poultry breeding, grain cultivation, and integrated potato-forestry farming, while its southwestern areas specialize in sugar beet cultivation. Agricultural enterprises near major towns also focus on vegetable and fruit production. It publishes 35 newspapers, operates 23 local radio stations, one regional FM radio station, and six local TV channels. Belarus currently has 57 institutions of higher education, including 43 state-run and 14 private universities. At this year's WCIFIT, a high-level government delegation from Minsk Region, Belarus, will bring 18 enterprises spanning sectors such as high-tech parks, agricultural products, food, tourism, and education to Chongqing for exhibitions and negotiations. The delegation will present a distinctive and comprehensive showcase for local businesses and residents, fostering mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation between the two regions.
