The 7th WCIFIT | Multinationals Share "Chongqing Opportunities" at the WCIFIT
May 22, during the 7th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT), the Dialogue between Chongqing and Multinationals was held in Chongqing. More than 120 representatives from large multinationals and industry associations from Germany, Denmark, Japan and other countries attended. At the event, departments such as the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, Chongqing Economic and Information Commission and Chongqing Development and Reform Commission, together with relevant districts and counties, gave presentations to the multinationals and institutions. They introduced the "Chongqing Opportunities" available at the WCIFIT and exchanged ideas on investing in Chongqing.

"Chongqing has always regarded multinationals as valuable resources and important partners," said a spokesperson for the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce. The WCIFIT is a key platform for Chongqing to expand its opening-up and cooperation. Through events such as this Dialogue, the municipality hopes to broaden trade cooperation with other countries and regions, deepen mutual understanding, increase two-way investment, and showcase Chongqing's development strengths and investment potential. Currently, Chongqing is speeding up the construction of "33618" modern manufacturing cluster system and its open-channel network, and is accelerating digital transformation. These efforts are creating new opportunities that the municipality hopes to share with more multinationals.
Representatives from Shapingba District, Liangjiang New Area and other districts introduced their industrial advantages and features, and expressed a desire to cooperate as well. Leaders of major multinationals such as Orix and Veolia shared their experiences of investment and business in China and in Chongqing, and praised the municipality's business environment.
They noted that Chongqing, the only centrally administered municipality in Western China, has a solid industrial foundation. Besides, in recent years, the municipality has worked hard to create a better business environment and has achieved clear results, especially in manufacturing and the automotive sector, where its foundation and technological depth are strong. Multinationals developing in Chongqing will continue their cooperation with the municipality, modernize the local industrial chain, and use their own resources to strengthen Chongqing's open economy. They will help more Chongqing-based companies go public and "go global," while encouraging more multinationals to learn about Chongqing and increase both the speed and scale of their investments.
During this Dialogue, participants discussed two themes: "Expanding into new sectors and unlocking new momentum for new quality productive forces" and "Building ecosystems to create a modern manufacturing cluster system." Senior executives from multinationals such as Textron, Danaher and Mitsubishi Electric, together with Chongqing-based companies including Changan Automobile, Seres and SevnceRobotics, took part in brainstorming sessions and round-table dialogues. All agreed that they will continue to make full use of Chongqing's location and industrial advantages and use the WCIFIT as a platform to deepen all-round cooperation and help Chongqing build a hub for inland opening-up.
