Chongqing Shuangfu International Agriculture-trade City Showcases Specialty High-quality Produce at WCIFIT, Such as Longkong and Jiansanjiang Organic Rice.
From May 18 to 21, the 5th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) was held in Chongqing. Over the 4-day event, Chongqing Shuangfu International Agriculture-trade City leveraged the WCIFIT platform to introduce globally sourced specialty agricultural products to citizens across the city.
Featured items included Thailand's Longkong, Thai durians, Belgian pears, New Zealand's Florina apples, Australian lobsters, and other premium produce. The exhibition booth, located within the Chongqing Transportation Group's pavilion in Hall N4, highlighted fruits primarily from ASEAN countries alongside Jiansanjiang Organic Rice, drawing significant public interest.
As Chongqing's largest comprehensive primary agricultural wholesale market, Shuangfu International Agriculture-trade City serves as a critical component of the city's "Non-Staple Food Project" and "Livelihood Project." It is invested in and operated by Chongqing Transportation Holdings (Group) Co., Ltd., The market prioritizes ensuring a stable supply of fresh agricultural products for the municipality. It integrates 16 major categories, including vegetables, fruits, grains, edible oils, dry goods, condiments, meat, aquatic products, eggs, frozen goods, and flowers.
In 2022, Chongqing Shuangfu International Agriculture-trade City achieved a daily trading volume exceeding 12,000 tons, with annual trading volume reaching 4.3 million tons and annual transaction value hitting RMB37 billion. Both trading volume and value maintained double-digit growth, solidifying its position as a leading national cross-regional backbone circulation network node in western China, with industry-topping trading scale and regional radiation capacity.
Li Xingzhi, Party Committee Member and Deputy General Manager of Chongqing Transportation Holdings (Group) Co., Ltd., emphasized the market's commitment to serving rural revitalization and advancing agricultural supply-side structural reform. "To better ensure market supply, we've vigorously promoted farmer-business connectivity and built an integrated agricultural supply chain," he stated. Key initiatives include: (1) strengthening production-sales alignment, (2) advancing production-sales integration, and (3) improving supporting services for supply chain systems. These efforts aim to stabilize agricultural product sources, ensure price stability, and fulfill corporate social responsibilities. "Through the WCIFIT platform, we hope to showcase our vision of establishing a full agricultural industry chain to suppliers, partners, and market operators. Our goal is to provide consumers with higher-quality, more affordable, and safer agricultural products." Li said.
At the exhibition, the Party secretary and Chairman of Chongqing Shuangfu Farm Produce Wholesale Market Co., Ltd. Wei Yongsheng invited attendees to sample Thailand's Longkong and organic rice from Jiansanjiang, Northeastern China. "We've partnered with long-term quality vendors at the market to showcase Thai durians, Longkong, Belgian pears, and other nutrient-rich, distinctive fruits. The Jiansanjiang Organic Rice, cultivated under ecological standards, offers a healthier and safer option," he explained. "By leveraging Shuangfu's platform and the WCIFIT, we aim to aggregate premium global specialty produce and deliver them to Chongqing residents, ensuring access to high-quality, fairly priced agricultural goods."
