Chongqing Releases 2022 Development Index of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor
On May 18, at the opening ceremony of the 5th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) and the 2023 CCI-ILSTC International Cooperation Forum, Chongqing released the 2022 Development Index of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
According to the calculations, the 2022 development index of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor was 135.2 points, showing an increase of 10.3% and 32.5% compared to 2021 and 2020 respectively. This indicates that the overall condition of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in 2022 was sound, marking a notable year of development achievements.
Specifically, in 2022, the scale development index of the corridor maintained rapid growth, increasing by 17.6 points compared to 2021, reaching 156.8 points, reflecting sound operational condition in corridor construction and logistics operations. The quality development index stood at 111.3 points, showing an increase of 11.3 points compared to the base period of 2019, but a decrease of 1.9 points compared to 2021. The competitiveness index grew rapidly to 125.6 points, up 14.8 points compared to 2021.
The index report also shows that the scale of foreign trade and industrial development in the corridor grew rapidly. The foreign trade scale index reached 132.7, and the industrial scale index reached 129.1, indicating that the benefits of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor have begun to materialize.
A relevant official from the Port and Logistics Office of the Chongqing Municipal Government stated that the index report, through dynamic monitoring and model calculation of infrastructure, service capabilities, industrial development, etc., comprehensively measures and truly reflects the overall operational condition of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in a certain period. It provides an accurate digital basis for formulating targeted policies and improving quality and efficiency according to changing circumstances for the development of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, further consolidating and enhancing the status and influence of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and promoting its high-quality development.

The Development Index of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor takes the release date of the Overall Plan on New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (2019) as the base period, with a benchmark value of 100. The original indicators were revised and improved, with 1 new secondary index and 5 new tertiary indicators added. The index system now comprises 13 secondary indexes and 30 tertiary indicators, covering multiple fields including logistics infrastructure, ports, trade, and industry.
Among them, the 3 primary indicators are mainly aligned with the construction goals and progress of the corridor, forming an index system framework that fully reflects the development of the corridor in terms of scale development, quality development, and competitiveness. A value of 100 is the prosperity-threshold line; a value above 100 indicates overall positive development, growth, or improvement, while a value below 100 indicates a downward adjustment.
