The Guest Country of Honor can be regarded as the "second host" of an exhibition.

Why has Mexico been selected as the Guest Country of Honor for this year's WCIFIT? A key reason is that Mexico stands as Chongqing's largest trading partner in Latin America.

To fulfill this role with distinction, H.E. Mr. Jesus Seade, Ambassador of Mexico to China, will lead a delegation to Chongqing for the fair. During the event, Mexico will host a variety of vibrant activities to comprehensively showcase its national profile to Chongqing.

 

Close ties between Chongqing and Mexico

The WCIFIT builds a broader platform

This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Mexico. Chongqing and Mexico have maintained close exchanges over the years.

In November 2013, Chongqing officially established sister-city relations with Nuevo León, Mexico.

In 2020, Fengdu County formed a friendly relationship with Guanajuato City.

Additionally, Mexico stands as Chongqing's largest trading partner in Latin America. In 2021, the total import and export volume between Chongqing and Mexico reached RMB12.848 billion, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 6.1%.

Precisely for these reasons, Mexico has been selected as the Guest Country of Honor for this year's WCIFIT. It can be said that the WCIFIT has established a broader platform for expanding economic and trade exchanges between Chongqing and Mexico, while also building a stronger bridge to enhance the friendship between the two regions.

On one hand, as an open, cooperative, and mutually beneficial economic and trade platform, the WCIFIT enables Mexican and Chongqing enterprises to fully connect and explore cooperative potential, further enhancing the fair's influence and Chongqing's urban radiating capacity.

On the other hand, the Guest Country of Honor's series of cultural activities will allow Chongqing citizens to better understand Mexican culture.

Diverse promotional activities

At this year's WCIFIT, Mexico, as the Guest Country of Honor, will organize a variety of activities to showcase its national profile.

His Excellency Mr. Jesus Seade, Ambassador of Mexico to China, will lead a delegation to participate in the fair. Additionally, the MEXCHAM has organized a business delegation comprising representatives from over 20 Mexican enterprises to attend the exhibition and related events.

During the WCIFIT opening ceremony, Mexican Senate President Sánchez will deliver a video address.

Throughout the fair, Mexico will host a series of economic and trade activities, including the inauguration ceremony of the Mexico Pavilion at WCIFIT, the Mexico - China (Chongqing) Investment and Trade Fair, and the opening of the Chongqing Office of the MEXCHAM.

Mexico will also present a rich cultural program featuring events such as the "Ambassador's Book Recommendation" reading session, the "Multidimensional Mexico: Everlasting Charm" special photography exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary of China-Mexico diplomatic relations, and the "Mexican Film Festival: Seeing the World Through Cinema." These exceptional cultural offerings should not be missed.
